Plans & payments

Do I need to pay anything upfront?

On the rental / subscription plan there is no upfront cost: you pay monthly from day one. Instalment plans need only a small deposit. You can also buy a system outright for cash.

Do I own the system?

It depends on your plan. On a subscription, Solarfy owns and maintains the system while you pay monthly. On instalment / rent-to-own, you own it at the end of the term. Cash buyers own it immediately.

How do repayments work?

Monthly payments are collected by DebiCheck debit order, a bank-approved mandate that you authenticate with your own bank. The amount and date are agreed upfront, so there are no surprises.

What is the difference between subscription and instalment?

With a subscription you pay a monthly fee to use the system, and maintenance and monitoring are included. With an instalment plan you pay a small deposit and fixed monthly amounts, and the system becomes yours at the end of the term. Compare plans.

Can I upgrade my system later?

Yes. On a subscription you can upgrade as your household’s needs grow. Speak to us and we will quote the change.

Systems & installation

What size system do I need?

It depends on your electricity use and what you want to keep running. Our systems range from the Backup Starter (3 kW inverter, 5 kWh battery) to Premium (12 kW inverter, 15 kWh battery). The estimator suggests a size based on your monthly bill, and your quote confirms it after a site survey.

Will my system keep running during load-shedding?

Every Solarfy system includes battery storage, so your essentials keep running when the grid goes down. How long you can run depends on the battery size and what you power. Larger systems can keep more of the home running for longer.

What happens if something breaks?

On subscription plans, maintenance and monitoring are included. Owned systems are warranty-backed, with optional maintenance plans.

Who installs the system?

An accredited installer from the Solarfy network surveys your home, installs the system and quality-checks it before handover.

Will I save money?

Solar can reduce what you spend on grid electricity, but how much depends on your usage, tariff, roof and plan, so we don’t promise a fixed figure. The estimator gives an indicative guide; your quote gives numbers tailored to your home.

Applying

Do I qualify?

Most working households do. Applying takes a few minutes and you get a transparent decision based on affordability, never on personal characteristics like race, gender or age.

What do I need to apply?

Your South African ID, proof of income (such as recent payslips or bank statements) and a recent electricity bill. We will tell you if anything else is needed for your plan.

Which areas do you cover?

We work with accredited installers in South Africa. Share your suburb when you request a quote and we will confirm availability in your area.

How is my personal information protected?

We handle your information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and only use it to provide your quote and service. Read our privacy policy.
