How we collect, use and protect your personal information.

Solarfy (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through solarfy.africa, WhatsApp and email, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Information we collect
- Contact details such as your name, email address, mobile number and suburb or town.
- Information about your home and energy use such as your electricity bill, the system or plan you are interested in, and any details you choose to share.
- Business details if you apply to become an installer partner, such as your company name, service areas, team size and accreditations.
- Messages you send us by email, WhatsApp or through our forms.
- Basic technical information such as your IP address, which our hosting provider records in server logs for security and to prevent abuse.
If you apply for a plan, we will collect further information needed for identity verification and an affordability assessment. We will explain what is needed and why at that stage.
How we use your information
- To prepare and send your quote, and to contact you about it.
- To assess and manage installer partnership applications.
- To provide, install and support your solar system if you become a customer.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
- To protect our website and services against fraud and abuse.
We do not sell your personal information. We will only send you marketing if you have agreed to it, and you can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
We share information only where needed to provide our service, for example with:
- accredited installers who survey and install your system;
- service providers who host our website and email, under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations;
- regulators or authorities where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires. Quote requests that do not lead to a sale are deleted when they are no longer needed.
How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted access to stored data.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers when you visit.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
- ask us to correct or delete your information;
- object to us processing your information, including for marketing;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
